The Vow: A Movie Review

Vina R. Reyes

-

There was a newlywed couple, Paige and Leo, who deeply fell in love with each other the first time they laid eyes upon one another. But there were problems where Paige’s family did not want Leo for their daughter. Her parents were the typical people who would judge others on sight and went through great measures so their daughter would leave Leo, and had taken the opportunity when Paige and Leo got into an accident, where Paige went on a coma and got diagnosed with amnesia. After she had a confusing relationship with her parents due to her parents plans on forgetting Leo, but still harbours feelings for her ex- fiancé.

Michael Sucsy, the director of the film really wanted to showcase a different kind of love story. It is not your typical fairy tale where it has different twist to it. the producers of the outstanding film were Gary Barber, Roger Birnbaum, Jonathan Glickman and Paul Taublied. This movie is written by Marc Silverstien, Abby Kohn, Jason Katims based on the real life story of Kim and Krickitt Carpenter.

Channing Tatum and Rachel Mcadams portrayed the characters well enough to showcase their individual personalities. They really did well and you can tell just from watching them that they took the story to heart. Their cinematography and musical score was quite simple but still suitable for the film, the special effects was also simple which is ok because the film is portraying in a modern environment.

The editing of the film is not to detailed like a local Filipino movie were they give all. The script and dialogue of the actors were outstanding for they used some words that are common to people and words that you can hear in a daily basis.

If I were to rate this film out of ten, it would be over be over the scale. The different twist of love story would make you want to watch it over and over again. I’m a big fan of Rom com drama movies, that is why this movie really got my attention with it’s story, actors, cinematography and many more. It is an inspiring story because it was based on a real life story of a couple, it doesn’t give you the cheesy feeling of a relationship. This movie basically says that no matter what happens in your relationship through up’s and down’s , heart aches and problems you will always find a way to fight and to be strong as a couple. Try to watch this movie and you will never regret every single part of it.
