Have you already encountered to help someone who is in need? Have you ever experienced to be a super hero to anyone else? Or are you a person who never cares to others at all? Which are you among these questions? Try to evaluate yourself.

Nowadays, poverty was considered to be one of the most pressing problems. Thus, it can make every individual to be stagnant and mediocre member of the society. Perhaps, adversity is also the reason why myriad of people weren’t able to finish their study; and unfortunately others don’t even experience to be enrolled in elementary and high school. To solve this long-standing issue, the Department of Education mandated a new program which entitled “Open High School Program” a curriculum to reach out those individuals who are not able to finish their schooling because of adversity, early marriage, sickness and overage. In line with this, Masantol High School was the first school in the Division of Pampanga that has given an opportunity to be part of the said program.

More so, losing yourself in the service of others is the primal goal of this program and the OHSP teachers, which aims to uplift the interest of those who are belong to the out of school individuals to help these people to bring out their fullest potential and their very best to enable themselves to become useful, productive and better citizen of the country. On the other hand, reaching out the last, least and the lost in every community area is not that easy, you need to sacrifice a lot of time, effort and energy for them to feel they are important and to make sure that they are doing what is right and beneficial.

One of the activities that we have conducted was posting and mapping in some barangays such as San Nicolas, Sta. Lucia, Sto. Nino, Malauli, San Pedro, Bulacus, Sagrada, Puti, etc. to ensure that we could extend our program in every area of Masantol. Even though we get tired and perspired during those days, we would not stop in reaching out the lost because we are called and chosen to make a difference to the life of every student. We are called by God to make a vessel to lead and serve other people regardless of their position and condition in life.

As stated by Mahatma Gandhi and I quote, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” Reaching out the last, least and the lost shows how righteous people we are; helping them will surely delight the Lord and His name will be glorified.

Bible declares, “Your labour in the Lord will never be in vain.” Our efforts, sacrifices and works will be rewarded by our Lord Jesus Christ.
