ERADICATING CAMPUS ILLS

Bullying and cheating-these and more make school full of ravelling chambers of sickness. These are holes inside the campus that need some patching up. It is also sad that a place of learning has been invaded by a lot of campus ills.

If one will just take a closer look, bullies should have no place in campus. Many dreams have been shattered because of bullying. From thrash talks to evil threats, bullying can destroy the person from inside and out. Those who are bullied are disturbed and remain troubled. As a result, victims perform low in school. Teachers must be vigilant enough to spot the incidents of bullying. Authorities likewise must implement sanctions to bullies. Parents must coordinate in school and students have to break their silence and report bullying cases.

Cheating is another problem in school. Those students who try it easily get addicted and can even infect their classmates with the virus. This campus ill does not only irritate the teachers but also invalidates learning of the students. How will conclude that the students indeed learned if the results are not true because of cheating? As most people say, no one will cheat if the students will just have the courage to say no to it. Cheating is not the answer for the low grades of students. A good study habit is the key to academic success.

Vandalism is another campus ill that we have to eradicate. Yes, we all have the right to air our opinion about almost everything but that should not give us a license to vandalize. Fighting through writing stuff on the walls and corridors and even on the doors of the comfort rooms is horrible. Yes, it helps unleash the anger, though we must learn how to value our school buildings and facilities. How dirty you are in our surroundings is how grouse your character is. And if you think you can get the attention you want by doing vandalism, you are wrong. You are just putting yourself in big trouble.

Forming groups like fraternity and sorority is now becoming a trend in campuses. Joining these unauthorized groups is categorically a campus ill. Furthermore, hazing is part of these student groups which is definitely fatal in case something went wrong in their undertaking. School administrators and members of the faculty have to make an initiative to monitor the growing number of these organizations that bring harm to students’ lives. Likewise, parents also have a big role in checking whether their children are getting involved in such campus menace.

Let us not allow these campus illnesses invade our very own school. Teachers, parents and students have to make a collaborative effort to cure these cases. We have to act now before it is too late.
