The Killer Words

Vina R. Reyes

-

Many people today say foul words or bad words. It is rare to see a person who is clean and doesn’t say bad words. These bad words have many special effects to many persons and to ourselves. Saying these bad words damages your reputation. One element of a first impression is your way of speech. Your speech could determine such things as whom you will attract friends and the amount of respect you will receive. If someone first saw someone saying a curse word, that guy/girl will have a bad image and reputation. It can destroy your image by adding bad elements to your characteristics and damage your inner soul. According to Socrates, “A man doesn’t do bad things without reason”. This only means that a man only says the said words if they have a surge of emotion such as anger or grief. The anger inside of one person could burst out and damage other people’s feelings and damage your image to others since you gave a person traumatic events that could ruin their life forever.

Saying bad words show disrespect for the Creator of speech. A misuse of a gift that was given to us is hurtful for the giver. If we are going to use this speech to insult someone, that is disrespect. In return, we won’t have much respect as others since we are abusing the gift that was given to us and, as said in the previous paragraph, had a bad reputation. We must use everything that was given to us properly and not abuse it. Saying these curse words uses the words as a sword to kill an emotional self of a person. It is wrong to hurt someone as one of the 10 commandments said, “Thou shall not kill”, not literally but saying these bad words could kill an inside of a person.

Letting go of your stress could bring stress to other people. Any emotion is contagious, whether it is happiness, sadness, or anger. We must always consider other people’s feelings when saying words so that we could avoid damaging their feelings and our reputation. Curse words damages our reputation and our image. It is not right for a human to abuse what is just given to them. We should change our lives for our future and the future of the world. We should change for the betterment of mankind.
