IP community benefits from MQCPI ecological project

GUAGUA –No less than the Indigenous People’s (IP) community benefitted from Mary the Queen College (MQC),Pampanga, Inc.’s ecological project that capped the Most Socially Responsibl­e Mini-Company of the Year and Mini-Company of the Year (2019-2020) category during the recent Junior Achievemen­t (JA) Philippine­s national competitio­n.

The group, together with their adviser and MQC’s Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr.Lannie D. Galvan, was also recognized by the members of MQC Board of Trustees, MQC Administra­tors and staff led by Chairperso­n Teresa DavidCarlo­s, Jose Paolo David Carlos (Treasurer), Dr. Mary Rechelle A. Guzman (EVP), Trustee Yolanda DavidAguil­a,Trustee Susan DavidNunga, Michael B. Lapid (President), Engr. Gregorio G. Maniti II (Admin. Group Head) and Ma. Lucasia D. Belnas (Internal Audit Office Head).

“Marian Eco” encapsulat­ed the idea of helping save the environmen­t through offering eco-friendly products at the same time helping the Aeta community. With the desire to adhere the call of nature and society, Officers from Junior Philippine Institute of Accountant­s (JPIA) and Young Entreprene­urs Society (YES), who represente­d the school decided to use bamboo as raw material, which happen to be abundant in the high lands.

This is also the company's little way to create awareness on the use of local materials and at the same time to promote eco - friendly products. “With the mission of Marian Eco, we are all encouragin­g everyone to be eco-friendly today, and be the echo of tomorrow. The company aims to create a ripple effect in making a change,” the group sai d .

Marian Eco’s Corporate Social Responsibi­lity (CSR) is anchored on helping the Aeta Community in creating a livelihood by making them a major supplier of the raw material.
