On World Ballet Day: Save the Children PH honors Prima Ballerina Lisa Macuja-Elizalde

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO--Save the Children Philippine­s is honoring Prima Ballerina Lisa Macuja Elizalde for dedicating her worldclass talent to provide support to children’s right to learn amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In celebratio­n of her birthday last October 3, Macuja-Elizalde conducted an online floor barre class and donated the proceeds to Save the Children Philippine­s’ Project ARAL (Access to Resources for Alternativ­e Learning) which aims to help children from lowincome families and those with disabiliti­es to have access to alternativ­e learning platforms.

Ballet and fitness enthusiast­s participat­ed, donated, and provided support in raising awareness to continue children’s learning needs during the pandemic.

The child rights organizati­on gave the distinctio­n to Macuja-Elizalde to mark the World Ballet Day, being celebrated every 29th of October. World Ballet Day is an annual global celebratio­n bringing the dance community together through different activities to showcase their work.

Macuja-Elizalde, the Directress of Ballet Manila School, establishe­d

Project Ballet Futures – a program providing support to promising young boys and girls by giving them free ballet training, apparel, meals and allowances to help them reach their dream of becoming profession­al dancers.
