HEROES OF PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE

Angela Lou R. Perez

-

Heroes do not wear capes, they do their task well. Heroes do not wear fancy attire; they see that their responsibility will not be compromised.

At the beckoning time of past, heroes are just laymen who wanted change. As the saying goes, this society was crafted by means of the martyrs, saints and revolutionaries. Without them, we are nothing. In a deep sense of gratitude, we commemorate them, yearly, we have festivals for them, we mark our streets with their names- even money, and we imprint and value them as a treasure. We tend to embark heroes before as the saying goes, after your death, you will be gratified. In reality, a nation that has these heroes is before to be oppressed, colonized and mutilated in humiliation. And as the time goes by, one will arise, try to defend and seek vengeance. Therefore, so to speak, heroes are the defendants of a nation, seeker of truth and equity, as to call them, “liberators.”

At the statistics of the present day scenario, a childhood memory will recall, and that is, they are robots, cape-man, two-piece woman, caricature or even an animal. We are gazed by this phenomenon, relatively, science fiction characters replace the true meaning and essence of “What is a hero?” is all about. Do you have the guts to tell everybody that you are superman? The big question now is, are we going to replace intangible to tangible? My answer is, definitely not. We have a real hero now-a-days. In act of gratitude to them, we follow them. We treat them as our second parents. Teachers are our heroes at our present time. It seems to be irrelevant, but it is true. The term sacrifice is the most queried responsibility, but for them, it is a vocation. For every step that we take, every bread that we cake and for every leader that we had, teachers promulgate them. Leaders are not born, they are crafted. And thus, the heroes that we have for this present time, TEACHERS. Let not be defiled by statement, that these teachers are blacksmiths and we are the iron, they are forging us to be strong, to be resilient and meek, to be the liberators of our kind, to love as to love ourselves, to make us an instrument of peace, to be as fair and just, to be, as to understand and care for life. Indeed, they are not wearing any capes nor fancy attires, but, rest assured that these modern day heroes are the most relevant, significant and important persona that the society must have. They are building our nation, with pride and joy, dignity and compassion, and once and for all, they are the one who can gain this nation for its own greater development for the common good of all its constituents.

At the future, students are adapting what their teacher had touched to them. Their love and care for holistic progression will be inculcated in their mind and seen by the acts of our future leaders and heroes, because of our noble and excellent teachers. This is the cycle of the hero-crafting society.
