Cristina T. Lusong
Recently, DepEd Region III Memorandum No. 185, s.2020 titled “Harmonized Regional Basic Education Research Agenda was released which made known the research priorities of the Department across four themes namely: Teaching and Learning, Child Protection, Human Resource Development, and Governance and three cross – cutting themes: Gender and Development, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Inclusive Education. The identified themes are anchored with the Department’s mission, particularly its four key stakeholders.
With this issuance, researchers are enjoined to conceptualize research topics which are aligned on the new normal way of education amidst the current COVID – 19 pandemic that the country is facing today. Some of the suggested topics as reflected on the Regional Memorandum are: Learning Delivery Modalities, Relevance of the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs), Teaching and Learning Resources, Students’ Attitude Toward Assessment, ICT Applications, School – Home Linkage, Mental Health, Professional Development of Teachers/School Heads for Multiple Learning Delivery Modalities, Upskilling and Reskilling of Teachers and others.
It is highly hoped that the researches that will be conducted will provide systematic, reflective inquiry on the processes of education and instruction to improve educational practices or resolve problems in any operating unit by testing the interventions developed.
