GLOBALIZED EDUCATION
Cristina T. Lusong
Globalized education is an emerging trend nowadays by broadening the horizons and encouraging exploration of subject areas from a global perspective. With this, it is a must for us, education personnel to reflect on the nature of the community, society and respond to the diverse background and experiences of the learners in order to stimulate curiosity, motivate learning, raise standards and bring the “world” into our respective classes. In addition the task of a leader in the globalized education is not just merely leading people but implementing change in the society to foster tolerance, solidarity, equality, justice, inclusion, cooperation and nonviolence. Therefore, educational leaders are tasked with establishing a collective vision for school improvement and initiating change to spur innovation, ensure student learning, and increase achievement.
The most effective leaders develop through a never-ending process of critical reflection, learning, training, and experience. Becoming a great leader means to foster the leadership qualities and follow through with the vision. Being a leader also means willingness to listen and learn from others, having the flexibility to change and adapt with experiences. These qualities and characteristics can be learned and developed to shape the school personnel and learners into great leaders of their own.
