The new normal of education
Arlene A. Galang
It’s time for us to accept that this pandemic, and social isolation, are here for a while. But in addition to that, our reality has changed, we’re in a new normal. Some things that have changed for many of us especially in education.
This more robust and responsive set of educational practices offer a new framework for educators and schools to rise to the challenge of preparing all students for school, careers and the world today. However, we need champions to advocate, if not demand, that deeper learning becomes the new normal for all schools.
Administrators together with the governing body need to uplift the educational system in this time of pandemic. As a response, remote learning is one way to continue the education of every Filipino learner. Moreover, possible means to deliver education is still being developed. The other alternative to traditional set up is modular and online distance learning.
As educators, our role is to break down walls or barriers that prevent learners from accessing and enjoying high-quality education. So, in this new normal, let us always uphold the right to high-quality education by providing multiple pathways to learning that can accommodate every student.
The new normal in education is calling us once more to review and meet other essential conditions that need to be met before diving into teaching and learning.
