A teacher’s Cry In Times Of Pandemic
Ador L. Isip
There is no teacher training curriculum that might have trained you for a current situation in school. While our job is far more than homework, all of us have been educated with the common understanding that our work asks us to have our students with expertise and skills in stimulating ways. When we went digital, all of us suggested that it is necessary for students to learn from online lessons or internet searches. They could learn their skills even though we weren't there.
To ensure that learning continues uninterrupted, DepEd introduced a modular distance learning – a learning experience approach in which connections take place between teachers and learners who are physically distant from each other during teaching. This means the classes can be delivered beyond the conventional face-to-face setup. Since technologies and internet accessibility remain a challenge for most learners, DepEd provided them with written module materials.
In academic contexts, expectation for education is increasing. And as class sizes continue to increase, there is reason to change total costs. There is also a need for versatility to bring continuing education into daily life. These considerations, together with the accessibility communication mechanisms and computer technology and contributed to the advancement of new teaching and learning approaches.
Teachers have difficulties in printing modules developed by divisions, as expected materials from the Central Office (CO) remain inaccessible. This is due to a lack of funds in ensuring self-learning modules are available. Real allocations from the Special Education Funds (SEF) of the Local Government Units (LGUs) and the 'Brigada Eskwela' scheme are also not adequate to get a 1:1 ratio of studentmaterial to support all learning opportunities.
While education is still a massive hit as classrooms are shuttered their doors to hopeful learners, let us step in and help our learners who are adapting to the new set-up.
