THE SIGNIFICANCE OF HOME ENVIRONMENT TO CHILDREN’S EDUCATION

The foundation of learning begins at home. Parents play a significant role in children’s learning. Supportive environment at home really affects the young learners’ performance at school. It is also part of the parents to inspire and guide their children in their own educational journey. Parents are the first teachers of their children.

Monitor the learning progress of the young learners. It is in the home environment when parents create a daily conversation to their children. The interest of the children in the school activities will increase if they feel they are being appreciated by their parents. Provide instructional materials at home which can be utilized by children such as posting charts in the wall or tables.

Teach the young learners how to become independent in their studies like doing assignments and projects. Creative home environment reflects on the personality development of the children. At the end of the day, ask the children what lessons in life they have experienced. Remind them that they should also be responsible in whatever learning task they have learned from school.

Spending more time to the children is necessary. As parents, it is mainly important to provide moral support to the young learners in order for them to be motivated in learning acquisition. Home is the best place for showing love and care between the parents and children.

The most important part of the home environment is to ask the guidance and wisdom of God. Teach the children to pray on their own. Inculcate in their mind that God is the creator of everything. Ask the children to communicate with God every day to gain strength, confidence and becoming hopeful in daily living. Promote a loving and safe home environment.
