School – Community Partnership in the New Normal Scenario

It is a challenge in an institution when there is less involvement of parents in the school programs, projects and activities especially when monitoring their children’s academic performance in this time of pandemic. There are instances that some parents find hard to give time for their children in terms of their education. Working parents are mostly the guardians who are not able to participate in their child’s academic performance. This problem really affects the organization mandates, mission, values, and services.
As an educator it is significant action to address the gap regarding less involvement of parents in their children’s academic performance and participation in the school activities. In this new normal set up of education, it is the parent who plays a very important role towards achieving quality learning. A school may dream to have an organization that is collaboratively engaging and passionately performed duties and responsibilities to fulfill learners’ needs in terms of achieving lifelong learning skills development. This vision has an impact for both learners and the community. It is significant because it will definitely produce a globally competitive learners of the 21st century.
School is considered as part of the society where individuals can attain their formal learning. It is the organization’s mandate to establish and maintain a network of volunteers to offer community support to learners, families, organizations, and communities. With this, teachers are encouraged to engage parents and other stakeholders to share their time in guiding their children in accomplishing their self – learning modules which can develop students’ academic performance and other extra-curricular activities. It is expected that volunteer work will be done by the parents to help the school in achieving their mission and vision.
