TOWARDS A NEW NORMAL MANAGEMENT ENVIRONMENT

-

The “New Normal” disrupted every sector and education was not spared from the uncertainties brought by this paradigm shift. The government, particularly CHED, DepEd, and TESDA admittedly or not were also caught unaware. Nevertheless, change has come we need to adapt with it hence the following are proposed steps to keep pace with this transition:

Psycho-social support is fundamental. It should be initiated among all members of the organization as foremost consideration to cushion the change impact and to destress them from their initial impression of the “new normal” in education. Followed by a needs-assessment on the depth and breadth of their knowledge to the gadgets and platforms that can be used in the “new normal”. It is through this that we can gauge to where we could start helping them.

After which, technical assistance should be provided to members who are lagging in terms of the modalities as aid in their transition to the “new normal” in teaching. This technical assistance can be in the form but not limited to webinars or video tutorials and the like and should be provided by identified experts. Next would be proper community partnership and linkage. Even in the “new normal”, it is still necessary for an organization to seek help and build collaboration with its community. This is to deliver what is needed to be delivered in the best quality form possible.

Finally, when everything seems to be settled, an assessment is necessary to calibrate and recalibrate where the organization’s is at par in terms of its mission and vision. It is usual that we fear the unknown and with the advent of new modalities in the teaching-learning process, education – both at home and at schools – need to keep pace with the change.
