The Challenges amidst the Pandemic: Teachers’ Edition

-

The magnitude that the COVID-19 pandemic brought has affected the world greatly. Things that you never knew possible have happened, such as the worldwide economic shutdown and the implementation of quarantine guidelines. Our lives are now completely different and we are doing activities that we were never accustomed to.

That being said, the education sector is currently faced with a challenge that no one might have ever predicted—the complete shift to distance learning this coming school year. For months, teachers have tirelessly prepared and printed modules, filmed video discussions, and constructed syllabi that can guide their pupils as the school year progresses. However, how are the teachers coping up amidst the given situation? After all, aren’t they human beings, too?

Teachers have worked through day and night, with no extra pay, just so can deliver the best teaching methods possible to their pupils. Some might not be even equipped with advanced knowledge in the ever-changing technology, but it can obviously be seen that the teachers are giving their all for their pupils. There are so many teachers who have gone viral on social media because of their sacrifices and dedication. It is not just their physical health which is at stake, even their mental and emotional health are being compromised with this set-up as well.

However, you will never hear complaints, because this is what they love, this is what they are passionate about, this is what they live for. They won’t ask for extravagant recognition or global praises, just the thought that their pupils are truly learning is enough. Truly, teachers are not just any ordinary human beings, they are heros.
