The world is full of surprises. Europe was once shocked by the deadly Bubonic Plague and the killer flu known as the Spanish flu. In this century another pandemic came into the open. It gave birth to different struggles among people. Deaths were reported. Cases of affected are still increasing.

All citizens were given protocols such as always practicing social distancing, wearing of face shields, face masks and using alcohol and sanitizers. In the field of Education, Alternative Work Arrangements were drafted so as to ensure the proper guidance on the said protocols. As the Deped’s mission in ensuring the delivery of knowledge among school children, we at Santos Ventura National High School adapted the DISTANCE LEARNING.

Merriam Webster defines distance learning as, “a method of study where teachers and students do not meet in a classroom but use the Internet, e-mail, mail, etc., to have classes.” Simply put, distance learning is when students are separated from teachers and peers. We are practicing Modular and Online Distance Learning, Both learning modalities have lesser physical contacts among children.

Modular students receives Self-Learning Modules are provided every week wherein parents are receiving them in school with given schedule. Same scheme is practice during the retrieval of these modules and students answers. Learners were advised to make their Facebook Accounts active for Group Page or group chats for follow ups. All are given the opportunity to ask their queries about each subject and every subject teachers are always ready to explain in the simplest ways possible. There are times teachers uses the Chat room explain concepts to group of learners. They were also given supplementary materials in the form of power point presentations that are being send as pictures or jpeg format in order for the students to access them even on their mobile phones. On the other hand, online students enjoys the Virtual classes with their teachers through online apps such as Google Meet, Zoom, Google Classroom. This is a virtual class wherein teachers and students are having actual practice of learning process. The smooth delivery of this process is of course lies on the strong internet connection. Students outputs are submitted via google classroom, other students takes pictures of their work and are submitted via facebook messenger or emails. These are being practiced at our school without forgetting the safety protocols
