The New Normal in Education
Edwin Q. Dizon
The current COVID-19 pandemic has put everything on hold for almost a year. Safety measures and protocols are implemented not only within the country, but also globally, to aid in preventing the spread of the virus and its damages. The Department of Education has taken priority of the safety of the students, the teachers, and the stakeholders by devising its Learning Continuity Plan (LCP).
In return, the respective Learning Continuity Plans (LCP) of each schools division were also carefully deliberated and crafted to ensure that the needs and safety of the learners, teachers, and stakeholders are realized. Different learning modalities, such as blended learning, modular learning, and TV-based learning, are utilized by schools accordingly.
With the dedication and perseverance of the Department of Education and its members and the unwavering support of the parents, local government officials, and other stakeholders, we are now in the new normal in education.
Parents patiently assist the teachers in guiding the students in their studies and to ensure that they will achieve their most essential learning competencies. Local government officials and stakeholders provide the needed resources and labor to ensure that the learning modalities are implemented by the schools with minimal challenges.
Through these partnerships and support, the new normal in education is paving its way. Despite the hurdles and challenges we face, we continue to persevere and work together hand-in-hand, with the thought of the wellbeing and continuous learning of the students as our inspiration and motivation. We will continue to strive in providing our students with the quality education they deserve, as they are the future of our nation.
