CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Gawad Kalinga has committed to support thePilipinas Kontra Gutom movement.

It is a partnership between the national government and private sector that seeksto implement programs against hunger to make it more “bite-sized” or eradicated by 2030.

GKChairpersonJose Luis Oquiñena said his organization will contribute to the cause through their “Kusina ng Kalinga” and “Bayan Anihan” i ni t i at i ves.

“Hunger is an underlying issue connecting all families. This is amplified by the recent development of natural disasters and the current pandemic.

This has been there all this time, and it is at this moment that we need to stand up against hunger,” he said.

Kusina ng Kalinga aims to address the issues of the lack of nutritious food, working with many kitchens in and around Metro Manila, and all over the country.

It has already established 45 kitchens, reached 139 communities, fed 15 151 kids, and served 346 184 meals as of November 16.

Meanwhile, Bayan Anihan is designed to support farmers and strengthen communities by helping them market their productions.

It is a profit for non-profit program that aids farmers through value formation, business management, and marketi n g.

“Bayan Anihan also supports farmers by means of disaster response programs. We do immediate relief for farming families, purchase produce of farmers, supply kitchens with produce needed for feeding in disasterstruck areas, and supply healthy foods such as vegetables as relief packs,” he shared.
