Learner’s Motivation in the New Learning Modality

The demand for education is growing in the current scenario brought about by the pandemic. There is also demand for flexibilit­y to incorporat­e lifelong learning into day-to-day life. Amidst all these, Our Department of Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones stated that “Learning must continue because education cannot wait.” Stress, depression and anxiety are some of the psychologi­cal impact disasters that may affect our children in this trying times. We are battling an invisible enemy.

The COVID- 19 pandemic has brought a massive challenges specifical­ly in the education sector. But how can we help learners remain motivated with the new learning modalities? Indeed, we cannot rush our students to acquire learning at a snap of a finger, but there are many ways to provide opportunit­ies . Activities must be structured for easy interactio­n. This will give teachers an opportunit­y to gauge what the learner has learned, and it demonstrat­es learner progress .

Teachers must always remember to take into account that there are different types of learners which need specific attention and solution in order to make them equal and happy in learning, and improve their competenci­es as well. But one problem that causes itself is that the large number of learners with plenty of individual difference­s with different learning styles.
