We Can Still Have a Merry Christmas

Christmas is just around the corner. But, given the ongoing pandemic, many cannot feel the spirit of the season.

It is really sad how the COVID-19 pandemic changed our lives including how Filipino families celebrate special occasions. We may celebrate differently this year, but I believe we can still have a merry Christmas.

Come to think of it, the pandemic has actually taught us many things. Probably one of the most important learnings is to cherish the things we have especially our family.

Since the pandemic has forced us to stay at home, we finally had time to spend with our family which we didn’t have before. Working from home was not that bad after all. At least, after work, we get to immediately spend our time with our parents, spouse and/ or kids.

This pandemic also made us realize the importance of our health. Many of us started to take care of ourselves by eating healthier food, taking supplements, and doing exercises. None of us wanted to get sick, not even the usual colds or cough.

And even though the pandemic has negatively affected our finances, that does not mean that our Christmas celebrations would turn out negative, as well. After all, money can’t buy happiness, right? Whatever little we have on our tables on Christmas Day, it’s enough to be thankful for.

With an uncertain future looming ahead, it’s more important now than ever to be grateful for our day to day lives.
