To see the progress of a student after the lessons that he/she has taken up. The teacher is conducting assessment tests. What is it? How it is being done? And for what purpose?

Assessment is way of gathering information on what students know based on their educational experience. Assessment results are typically used to identify areas for improvement and ensure that course content meets learning needs.

In education, there is widespread agreement that assessment is an integral part of any effective educational system or program. Educators, parents, elected officials, policy makers, employers, and the public all want to know whether students are learning successfully and progressing academically in school.

Formative assessments occur within an online course or lesson and are used to determine how well a student is learning the material. They’re best when they are ongoing, consistent, and provide critical feedback to learners.

Summative assessments on the other hand are sometimes called a final test and measure what the student has learned after completing a course. They can validate how well your content supports the course’s overall learning goals.

Undoubtedly, assessments are about more than just grades. When meaningful and well-constructed, they help students gear up for success by challenging them to reflect, interact, and apply their knowledge to answer questions, solve problems, and communicate information.

There are a number of assessments that you can use to evaluate students mindfully. The best method will differ based on learning needs and objectives. For example, an online quiz will be your perfect match if your goal is to measure knowledge gains quickly. But if you want to test your students’ interview skills, you’re better off using a dialog simulation. Other kind of assessments include: Online Quizzes, Open-Ended Essay Questions, Drag-And-Drop Activities, Online interviews, Online Polls, Game type Activities, Peer evaluation and review.

There are so many kinds of assessment to test pupils learning progress. We just have to find the right one that suits learners individual learning styles and needs.
