Tarlac Capitol to focus on health, cleanliness versus Covid-19

TARLAC CITY – The Provincial government of Tarlac will focus on strengthening people’s immune system and promoting cleanliness as part of its long-term plan against COVID-19.

Governor Susan Yap said health and wellness programs are now on the pipeline to keep Tarlaqueños strong and healthy amid the pandemic.

“We will still be wearing face masks and face shields next year. Our long-term plan is to strengthen our immune system which is the first line of defense against the virus. While the virus is not as virulent as it was in its first months, it still affects our health system,” she explained.

The governor furthered that people need to learn and understand what the “new normal”is all about which includes changing old habits.

She also highlighted the significance of maintaining cleanliness as most diseases like dengue and leptospirosis are caused by dirty surroundings and a weak immune system.

“What’s important is you wear your mask and shield, practice social distancing, wash your hands, and keep your body healthy. These ways cut down 90 percent of the infection rate,” Yap added.

In terms of vaccines, she disclosed that the provincial government has already allocated a budget for the purchase of vaccines once they are fully tested and proven safe.

On another note, the governor reminded the public to keep festivities at a minimum and observe public health standards this holiday season.

“We will always be here providing your needs but we also need your cooperation to prevent the spike of COVID-19 cases. So, to everyone in this holiday season, we cannot have the same parties anymore. The sooner we cooperate and keep the virus at bay, the sooner we can go back to our normal lives,” Yap added. (PIA 3)
