Kristel Kay E. Gozun
Classroom Management refers to the wide variety of skills and techniques that teachers use to keep students organized , orderly, focused, attentive on task and academically productive during a class. It is the process by which teachers create and maintain appropriate behavoir of students in classroom settings. It is an important way of making teaching-learning process effective. Once different techniques are executed properly, then negative behaviors among children are minimized and there will be quality time to be spent academically. Thus, learning will be increased meaningfully. Teachers will also increase their instructional time and the pupils’ learning time. It helps in improving students’ achievement. It keeps an orderly environment in the classroom. Once the class is disciplined, there will be minimum interruptions and fewer behavior problems will be experienced.
Teachers play a great role in classroom management since they are the managers of their own classroom. They make use of instructional strategy that they can apply to make teaching become effective, plan a classroom curriculum that will facilitate learning and use different classroom management techniques. These techniques will be of great help to teachers in facilitating learning. Setting daily routine, giving differentiated activities , using signals, recognizing and praising students who have done something good, making gestures to let them know that they are not listening, giving positive comments, are just some of the techniques that we can use in order to make teaching-learning process effective.
Hence, creating an effective learning environment in the class makes the students feel that they belong to one family. Building a good relationship among students will develop positive outcome on their studies. Managing the class properly turns to have a quality and effective learning.
