A safe Christmas Day in Pampanga

On Christmas Day, the streets were almost empty in the whole province of Pampanga.

I am proud to be a Kapampangan particularly for the discipline and obedience that we exhibited from December 25 to 27. Albeit it being a difficult thing to do, we have shown that we respect the authority of our government officials led by Governor Dennis Pineda.

Governor Pineda issued

Executive Order No. 32 Regulating the Movement of Persons in the Province of Pampanga and Reiterating the Strict Compliance with Health and Safety Protocols during the Holiday Season in a bid to ensure that there are no mass gatherings and restrict the movement of people through the activation of barangay checkpoints.

Admittedly, it was sad to miss the presence of our immediate family and friends on Christmas Day, but thinking that it was for our safety against the spread of COVID-19, it was bearable to say the least. We complied and happily obliged because we know that it is for our own good.

But more than knowing that it is for our safety, we obeyed the regulations because we have also seen how our provincial government has responded to the many challenges and risks posed by the pandemic. We have seen the firmness and strong will of our officials to defeat COVID-19. For all

their hard work and proactive strategy, we laud Governor Dennis Pineda.

Amidst the new threats of a possible second wave, we Kapampangans can find relief and refuge in knowing that our local government is doing its best to raise the needed resources to procure the vaccines for the priority groups in the province. Governor Pineda assured Kapampangans that the provincial government of Pampanga is planning to raise

about P200 to P300 million to be able to buy doses of COVID-19 vaccine and immunize priority sectors.

As a Kapampangan, hearing and knowing this initiative, we can look forward to 2021 with a glimmer of hope and pray that this will soon be over. # MyNewYearWishfor2021
