Positive response to blended learning setup

THE Department of Education (DepEd) has welcomed an end of the year survey indicating a neutral or positive response to the blended learning setup.
The DepEd expressed gratitude to the public for their continuous cooperation and support for the implementation of Basic Education-Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP).
The agency said it will continue to work with its partners and stakeholders to address the challenges of distance learning modalities.
The survey was conducted by PUBLiCUS Asia during the start of December, and shows some learners had a negative response. The major issues encountered by learners were weak internet connection, lack of focus and lack of interaction with teachers.
But the agency has developed several alternative platforms for learning which are accessible and promote interaction among teachers and learners.
These are DepEd Commons, DepEd TV, and other locally-contextualized initiatives, the DepEd said. Meanwhile, 60% of respondents indicated that they prefer to spend most or all of their learning time at school, as DepEd recognizes that traditional face-to-face learning is still vital to child development.
The DepEd hopes that LGUs, parents or guardians, as well as transportation and service providers and other stakeholders come together to support the challenges in achieving a better normal for our communities, even as it
commits towards shared responsibility of protecting learners’ health and welfare.
