969 Covid deaths in Central Luzon as confirmed cases now at 25,602

CLARK FREEPORT — The Bureau of Immigratio­n (BI) reported a 79 percent drop in the number of internatio­nal travelers who entered the country this year.

This is a result of the Covid-19 pandemic that prompted the government to impose stringent travel restrictio­ns, according to the agency.

Jaime Morente said BI statistics showed that more than 3.5 million passengers arrived here from January to December 25, 2020, compared to the 16.7 million who came in 2019.

Morente said that of those who arrived this year, 2.03 million were Filipinos and 1.54 million were foreigners.

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO— Total coronaviru­s deaths in Central Luzon is now at 3.8 percent or 969 cases as the number of confirmed cases in the region reached 25,602 according to the Department of Health (DOH).

The DOH claims that 89.7 percent or some 22,979 of the confirmed cases have already recovered from the virus. This as some 6.5 percent or 1, 654 remain active.

For December 28 alone, some 95 new cases have been recorded in the region.Some 55 cases come from Pampanga with another 32 cases from Bulacan.

Of the 1,654 active cases, some 604 are currently asymptomat­ic while another 1,003 cases are exhibiting mild symptoms. Some 36 patients are currently severe while 11 are critical.

Meanwhile, Bulacan province had breached its 10,000 mark with 10,296 cases and currently the province with the most number of cases.
