At this day and age, especially under the new normal, studying about health proves its relevance.

Since we are battling against an invisible enemy, COVID-19, it is only crucial to focus on teaching our students important health lessons.

Lessons on health introduce food and nutrition to students at a young age, which they can carry until they grow old. For instance, teaching students to choose healthy snacks and avoiding high calorie meals can be done during health classes. Moreover, health teachers can also introduce to students how to read food labels, so they can know the ingredients and calorie content of the food they consume.

During health lessons, teachers can also teach students about food contamination. Students need to learn for instance that raw meats have harmful bacteria which could contaminate the surface where they are placed. Thus, food should be handled properly to avoid any contamination and health risks.

Aside from food, health lessons also provide students topics on weight management and exercise.

Teachers can teach students the proper ways to exercise as well as the benefits of having an active lifestyle.

Aside from exercise, teachers can also discuss topics on obesity, a condition where many young students get due to sedentary lifestyle and improper food choices.

Some exercises students can do include some brisk walking or running at least 30 minutes to an hour each day. Students can also engage in sports such as volleyball, basketball, and swimming in order to keep a healthy and fit body.
