CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The Police Regional Office III conducted last week its “infodemic drive” in Aurora, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija and Olongapo City.
“Coronavirus Awareness Response and Empowerment (CARE) Infodemic Drive is composed of a series of socio-civic activities which aims to attain maximum information dissemination in the fight against COVID-19 through conveyance of its origin, symptoms, complications, mode of transmission, prevention and help dispel misinformation,” Regional Community Affairs Development Division Acting Chief PLtCol. Romell Velasco explained.
The program was designed to instill Department of Health protocols and other necessary information on COVID-19 to the different police stations in the mentioned provinces and highly urbanized city. In turn, they will conduct similar activities to barangays within their jurisdiction.
A pilot of the barangay version of CARE was held Wednesday in the town of Maria Aurora in Aurora with about 70 mothers participating. Attendees each received grocery items after the activity.
“We saw the need to address the concern of preventing COVID-19 by reaching out to the community and ensuring that they get the most reliable, timely and accurate information they need to face the current global health crisis,” Police Regional Director PBGen. Valeriano De Leon said. (PIA 3)
CABANATUAN CITY- A total of eight rebels voluntarily surrendered to security forces in Nueva Ecija Friday after a series of localized peace negotiations.
The group consists of five regular New People’s Army members and three members of the Militia ng Bayan from different communist terrorist groups operating in Central and Southern Luzon.
Army 7th Infantry Division Commander Major General Alfredo Rosario Jr. disclosed that they turned-over as well one M14 rifle with three magazines and 30 rounds of live ammunition, one M16 rifle with one magazine and nine rounds of live ammunition, and three Caliber .38 pistol.
Names of the returnees are being withheld as part of the security protocol being implemented to prevent possible retaliation that may be launched by their former comrades against them for turning their backs from the movement.
"This accomplishment is a result of a series of localized peace negotiations which soldiers and police have undertaken to encourage members of the communist terrorists, who are victims of the deception and lies of the communist terrorist group, to lay down their arms and return to the folds of the law,” Rosario said.
"The returnees will undergo debriefing and profiling as part of the enrollment process to the
