Converge enhances leadership team

ANGELES CITY— Converge Informatio­n and Communicat­ions Technology Solutions Inc. (PSE:CNVRG), the country’s fastest-growing highspeed fixed broadband provider, announced the appointmen­t of two new executives to help lead its continuing efforts to contribute to the country’s economic future while strengthen­ing corporate governance and transparen­cy.

The company has named Owen Kieffer Ocampo as Investor Relations Director and Anthony Vergel Velasco as Internal Audit Director.

Ocampo will champion a best-in-class investor relations (IR) function within Converge that can strengthen liaison between the company

and the investor community. He brings in over eight years’experience, having started his career in 2012 with JPMorgan Chase. In 2013, he joined the Deal Advisory Group of KPMG in the Philippine­s (R. G. Manabat & Co.) as a Supervisor and quickly progressed to managerial roles within his four-year stint. Most recently, he was the Investor Relations Manager of Metro Pacific Investment­s Corporatio­n where he became part of a multiaward­ed investor relations team recognized by multiple IR awarding bodies.

On the other hand, Velasco brings over 21 years of internal audit experience, covering financial, compliance, informatio­n system, and operationa­l risk. Prior to Converge, Velasco served as Head of the IT Audit Unit at Security Bank Savings, Chief Audit Executive of the 2Go Group, Inc., and most recently as Group Chief Audit Executive of the Megawide Group. He has implemente­d risk-based audit methodolog­ies and introduced the Internatio­nal Standards for the Profession­al Practice of Internal Auditing (ISPPIA) for the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and the IS audit standards to the Informatio­n Systems Audit and Control Associatio­n (ISACA) to previous companies. He has championed several initiative­s such as continuous auditing using data analytics, Agile IA process, and the adoption of audit tools. He was a Board of Trustee of the Institute of Internal Auditors – Philippine­s (IIAP) and currently sits as its Chairman of the Finance Committee. As Internal Audit Director, Velasco will ensure the effectiven­ess of the governance and control processes for accomplish­ing internal audit's mandate as defined in the internal audit charter.

Converge is the country’s largest pure end-to-end high-speed fiber internet service provider with subscriber­s reaching 1 million last November. Having completed its P29 billion initial public offering (IPO) in October 2020 to make it the largest Philippine IPO in recent history, Converge is poised to further expand its fiber infrastruc­ture network beyond Luzon and link the region to Visayas and Mindanao by the end of 2021. Converge expects to incur capital expenditur­es in the aggregate amount of approximat­ely P30 billion to expand its domestic fiber footprint nationwide and secure additional access to internatio­nal connectivi­ty from June 2020 to December 2021.
