Dramatic and Musical Activities
Darlene R. Beltran
The Self-developmental nature of the field of work has been recognized, and the public has given substantial support to competent work in them. Regardless of how they are classified, because their primary motivation for students is interest and because many of the activities related to their programs are carried on outside the school day , they have some of the characteristics of the preparation extracurricular program. What is important is not whether these fields are offered for credit or scheduled entirely during the school day. Rather, it is the fact that they are recognized as regular parts of the educational programs that specially prepared teachers largely direct and teach them, and that they are scheduled as organized. Competent instruction is no longer expected from teachers who have not had definite preparation in these specialized fields. Teachers on these fields must have directly coordination with the principal and recognize the basic educational aims of the activity program and share with teachers and pupils the responsibility of formulating policies and outlining a developing program
Most of these general principal apply to the whole program growing around physical education and related activities. They also have become a part of the broad educational program of the school, they employ a specially prepared staff, and are thus semi-curricular if not wholly curricular activities in many schools.
