Mental Health: Teachers and Learners

-

Mark Alex G. Datu,

“Mens sana in corpore sano”, in English term it’s ”a healthy mind in a healthy body”. This phrase is widely incorporated in sports and education field to explain that we should feed also our mind the way we feed our stomach. Having a sound mind for an individual is one of the most essential parts of well-being; it gets you to where you should go in achieving your dreams without any discomfort regarding your emotional, physiological and social well-being.

Teachers took the challenges and changes in our education system in this pandemic era with a positive mind set. They continue to learn and look for a better way to deliver quality education through quality instructions. The pandemic era brought a lot of realization in the lives of many. There were fears, anxiety and other mental disturbances that go with it. The mental health of teachers and learners are put to a test.

Mental Health issues are common but always remember that there are always help available. Many people recover from mental health problem. Let’s take our situation right now positively. Use this time to get connected with your love ones, peers and other people.

Teachers and learners join hand in hand in addressing this issue. With the Modular Distance Learning mode of delivering education to learners, teachers and learners managed to have “virtual kamustahan” in assisting learners with their lessons and this digital platform is also a means of showing empathy for learners and teachers as well. Other digital platforms are also used in order to boost the morale of teachers and learners in coping to the challenges brought to us by the pandemic.

Mental health is not a destination but a process. It’s about how you drive, not where you’re going.
