- C5

Modular learning is a form of distance learning that uses Self-Learning Modules (SLM) based on the most essential learning competencies (MELCS) provided by DepEd. The modules include sections on motivation and assessment that serve as a complete guide of both teachers' and students' desired competencies.

Modular teaching is more effective in teaching learning process as compared to ordinary teaching methods. Because in this modular approach the students learn at their own pace . ... So the students feel free to learn in their own style.

These problems include the quality of instruction, hidden costs, misuse of technology, and the attitudes of instructors, students, and administrators. Each one of these has an effect on the overall quality of distance learning as a product. In many ways, each of these issues relates to the others.

Scholars generally agree that modular degrees have many advantages for students in terms of their capacity to offer flexibility, choice, access and mobility. It is also widely argued that modular structures may be beneficial to universities in that they potentially allow institutions to respond to the needs of employers .

Modular teaching is concerned for each student as an individual with his/her own special aptitude and interest, goal of helping each student to think for himself, and allowing the individuality to each learner.

Just like the rest of the country, many have preferred to do modular learning due to the absence of a gadget that can be used to access their lessons . ... Offline learning is for those students who have gadgets but do not have access to the internet.

Teachers in distance education perform complex activities both individually as well as in a team. The most important role of a teacher in distance education is to model effective teaching through well-designed instructional content and appropriate communication medium.

Conclusions showed that there were significant differences between modular and traditional in general comprehension of students'. Findings depicted that students taught through modular approach gained higher mean score in teacher made general comprehension-based test than students taught through traditional approach.
