DepEd gears up for K to 12 full implementation . Basic education Act and ensuring that no learners are left. Curriculum and Instruction ensures that the organization focuses on the delivery of a relevant , responsive , and effective basic education curriculum around which all other strands and offices provide support.

The Bureau of learning Resources provides learning resources aligned to the curriculum and supportive of the various curriculum programs and modes of delivery , including those for learners with special needs. The learning resources help our learners to master the concepts and skills , develop lifelong learners and prepare our students to compete globally.

The delivery of the lesson through localization and contextualization is one of the highlights of K to 12 Curriculum. The curriculum according to the implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013 should be contextualized (Rule 11 ,Section 10.2 b) and flexible enough to enable and allow schools to localize , indigenize and enhance the same based on their respective educational and social context ( Rule II , Sec.10.2 h).

Considering the fact that contextualization and localization of lessons has become an important topic in our country’s educational system , teachers need to be exposed on this since this is considered a good avenue to use and retain “what they have learned” and how ‘’students best understand and interconnect individual lessons so as to derive meaning from them”.

Moreover ,to implement contextualization in teaching and learning, teachers need to learn different strategies and instructional materials suited for every lesson. Since assessment plays a vital role to acquire the correct understanding of the K to 12 assessment and on how to it should be integrated in the contextualization and localization of the lesson.

Instructional materials are important in delivery of the lesson. They actually give important reminders on contextualization , localization and indigenization. These can be done in all learning areas. Localization maximizes materials , activities , events and issues that readily available in the local environment. To contextualize , teachers must use authentic materials.

Contextualized Teaching and Learning is also known as Contextualized Instruction. It is defined as diverse family of instructional strategies designed to more seamlessly link the learning of foundational skills and academic by focusing teaching and learning squarely in concrete applications.

Therefore , upon realizing the concepts , teaching and teaching -related personnel ventured in preparing and developing a localized , indigenized instructional materials in different learning areas to bring relevant concepts in the classroom and to make the competencies meaningful and useful to the learners.
