Young students in this generation are facing a huge challenge to their academic life. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way students learn their lessons. Instead of the usual face-to-face classroom lessons, students had to stay-at-home and study remotely though modules or digital learning.

Modular style and digital learning were introduced to the Philippine education system.

The modular style of learning includes the use of modules, a unit of instruction that includes activities and work sheets usually answered by students in a week's time. Meanwhile, digital learning employs the use of electronic devices and the Internet when conducting lessons through the help of video applications or software.

These new normal styles of learning have been introduced by the Department of Education in order to keep both teachers and students safe at the comfort of their homes.

Although very much different from the traditional style of learning in the country, these new normal styles of learning have proven their worth.

Some of the key advantages of modular and digital learning include a wide range of educational resources, flexibility, and personalized learning.

Since lessons are conducted remotely, students get access to a wide range of educational resources online. These resources are also available 24/7, thus, they have the flexibility of time to finish their assigned tasks or modules.

Moreover, modular and digital styles promote personalized learning. Given the flexibility, students can study at their own phase and eventually discover what learning style is best for them.

It is undeniable how the pandemic disrupted both the lives of teachers and their students. But, despite the challenges, it is safe to say that both teachers and their students are somehow coping up well to the challenges of the new normal.
