BEYOND OBEDIENCE IS WILLINGNESS

Myrna M. Rivera

-

In every institution, willingness and obedience are important ingredients to attain target goals. If you act as a leader, absence of these means failure and incompetence. The success of a project lies on the collaborative efforts of each employee under the supervision of superiors. But as for the members of the organization, attitude and pleasure of performing duties create an impact on the quality of work. Most of the time, workers obey instructions from bosses for the sake of the job and personal needs. They are absolutely aware of consequences and punishments for non-compliance.

Fear pushes them to accomplish what is needed to be finished on a particular period of time. And definitely this is more in favour of the company for it increases its profit when intended outputs are done before deadlines.

On the contrary, other company owners prefer to establish trust and empowerment among their subordinates. Concern on the welfare of employees is prioritized in order to achieve goals advantageously. Listening to their personal difficulties and giving reasonable considerations are very important in bridging relationships between the higher ups and workers. Knowing well their skills and capabilities may lessen stress at work and can be a source of confidence and self-esteem.

Having an open and harmonious interaction develops willingness and initiative which may result to a better quality and greater quantity of work. Consequently, every individual regardless of position and authority will freely perform his responsibilities efficiently and will stay longer just like a true family. And profit is not monopolized but multiplied for both upper and lower levels.
