To open agrihub in Candaba

CANDABA - As part of its effort to provide fi nancial services to underserve­d communitie­s in the country, the Land Bank of the Philippine­s (LandBank) is set to open an agri-hub in this municipali­ty this year.

LandBank-City of San Fernando Assistant Vice President Roel Samia said agri-hubs aims to bring financial services closer to more farmers and fisherfolk­s across the country.

He said agri-hubs will provide banking, lending and agrarian services farming communitie­s, especially in top-producing agricultur­al towns.

"Our priority is to service farmers in Candaba, especially that they are one of the top producers of various agricultur­al

products in the region. Through the agrihub, they can avail of banking and lending services that can help in their livelihood," he said.

Samia also said that the agri-hub will also include an automated teller machine which can service residents of Candaba and other nearby municipali­ties 24/7.

Meanwhile, Mayor Rene Maglanque said the local government will provide a lot in Barangay

Pasig here, alongside other government facilities such as Municipal Infirmary, local police station and Don Honorio Ventura State University.

He disclosed that the management of state-run bank is only completing necessary documents before it starts it constructi­on possibly this year.

"The opening of LandBank in our town will benefit hundreds of farmers and fishermen as well as other residents who are still going to other municipali­ties to do banking activities today," he said.

He added that its opening will also spur economic activities in town, and foreseen to encourage other banks in opening branches here.
