Pamcham supports NLEX initiatives, projects

Works and Highways (DPWH) and NLEX in implementing the road network expansion plans in the province, and the recent roadway lighting upgrade from Balagtas, Bulacan to the City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

FREEPORT -Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade assured that all big-ticket infrastructure projects under the Build Build Build program will be completed despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Department of Transportation (DoTr) stressed that these infrastructure projects will spur economic growth in the entire country.

"Labanan ang pandemya, puksain ang pandemya. Pero itutuloy at hindi natin pababayaan ang 'BUILD,

BUILD, BUILD' projects because ito po ang magbabalanse at

magti-trigger ng ating ekonomiya," said Tugade.

DOTr touted it was able to complete projects under the Duterte administration's "BUILD, BUILD, BUILD" program even amid the swirling COVID-19 pandemic.

Tugade reiterated to President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday the importance of completing infrastructure projects, saying these are key in the country's road to economic recovery.

He said around 400 port improvements and 120 airport projects have been finished by the agency.

Tugade said the Transportation Department is ready to inaugurate the newly-renovated Calbayog Airport in Samar province on April 22.

The DOTr secretary also said the improvements in earthquake-damaged ports in Bohol have been completed, particularly the ports of Tagbilaran City and Maribojoc.

The agency is targeting to operate these ports by June this year.

Tugade added the construction of the new Clark International Airport terminal and the Bicol International Airport will be done by midyear and are scheduled to be operational within this year.
