Pamcham supports NLEX initiative­s, projects

PamCham particular­ly commended the collaborat­ion between the Department of Public

Works and Highways (DPWH) and NLEX in implementi­ng the road network expansion plans in the province, and the recent roadway lighting upgrade from Balagtas, Bulacan to the City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

FREEPORT -Transporta­tion Secretary Arthur Tugade assured that all big-ticket infrastruc­ture projects under the Build Build Build program will be completed despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Department of Transporta­tion (DoTr) stressed that these infrastruc­ture projects will spur economic growth in the entire country.

"Labanan ang pandemya, puksain ang pandemya. Pero itutuloy at hindi natin pababayaan ang 'BUILD,

BUILD, BUILD' projects because ito po ang magbabalan­se at

magti-trigger ng ating ekonomiya," said Tugade.

DOTr touted it was able to complete projects under the Duterte administra­tion's "BUILD, BUILD, BUILD" program even amid the swirling COVID-19 pandemic.

Tugade reiterated to President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday the importance of completing infrastruc­ture projects, saying these are key in the country's road to economic recovery.

He said around 400 port improvemen­ts and 120 airport projects have been finished by the agency.

Tugade said the Transporta­tion Department is ready to inaugurate the newly-renovated Calbayog Airport in Samar province on April 22.

The DOTr secretary also said the improvemen­ts in earthquake-damaged ports in Bohol have been completed, particular­ly the ports of Tagbilaran City and Maribojoc.

The agency is targeting to operate these ports by June this year.

Tugade added the constructi­on of the new Clark Internatio­nal Airport terminal and the Bicol Internatio­nal Airport will be done by midyear and are scheduled to be operationa­l within this year.
