5 nabbed, P8.1M marijuana seized in Malolos
CITY OF MALOLOS – Joint police operatives have arrested five illegal drug traders and seized around P8.1 million worth of dried marijuana leaves during a buy-bust operation in this city on Wednesday aft er noon.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-3 Regional Director Christian O. Frivaldo, on Thursday identified the arrested suspects as John Patrick Milan alias Wang, 26 years old; Kevin Paul Jose, 27; Mispa Jamsen, 28; Jayson Justiniano, 30; and Enrick Justin, 29.
The suspects were arrested by joint operatives of PDEA-3, PDEA Bulacan Provincial Office, Bulacan Provincial Police Office's Intelligence Unit, and Malolos City police in Barangay Look 1st C at around 2:30 p.m.
“A total of P8,160,000 worth of dried marijuana was seized from five drug suspects who (were) believed to be among the major suppliers of marijuana in the province of Bulacan and nearby towns of Pampanga,” Frivaldo said.
Aside from the more or less 68 kilos of dried marijuana leaves, also seized from the suspects were a cellular phone, weighing scale, and marked money.
Criminal charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are now being prepared for filing against the fi ve.
Last Tuesday evening, law enforcement operatives also arrested a suspected drug peddler and seized an estimated P3.4 million worth of shabu in an operation at the Public Market Harmony Hills in Barangay Loma De Gato, Marilao town.
The suspect was identified as Mary Grace Sison, 37, a resident of Bagong Silang in Caloocan City.
Frivaldo said PDEA agents secured a deal for the purchase of 500 grams of shabu from the suspect and agreed to meet her in the City of San Jose Del Monte but later on changed the meeting place to the public market in Marilao, where Sison was collared.
"It took us two weeks to convince Sison for the sale of the illegal substance because she was so cautious and evasive," Frivaldo said. (PNA)
