OF SAN FERNANDO – The Department of Trade and Industry-Tarlac in partnership with Tarlac State University (TSU) and the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Development Council (MSMEDC) of Tarlac, recently launched virtually the Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP) in the Province of Tarlac

YEP, with its tagline “Harnessing Our Own Resources for the Advancement of the Youth” (HOORAY), aims to address the young demographics of the country to become productive individuals through entrepreneurship by means of comprehensive package of interventions.

This public-private partnership is directed towards assisting the youth in realizing their full potential to become successful entrepreneurs.

DTI-3 OIC Regional Director Leonila Baluyut said harnessing the strength of the youth is one of the most reasonable strategies of the government since almost 30% of the population in the country fall under the youth bracket.

“DTI is seeking to harness the youth, their strengths, not as recipients but as active partners of the government and the private sector in building and rebuilding a better normal in the country,” she added.

The YEP takes into account DTI’s 7Ms strategy for MSME development: Mindset Change, Mastery, Mentoring, Money, Machines, Market Access, and Models of Business. The program has three components, namely, Youth Start - which aims to stir the entrepreneurial interests; Youth Net - for right network support, and Youth Match for collaboration and access to resources.
