The Importance of Good Reading Skills
Patricia L. Ysmael
Reading should be a functional and well-spoken process that involves both the reader and the reading materials in the construction of significance. Learning to read is critical for achieving success in our society. Various studies and hypotheses are revolving around reading. Many questions about reading have been considered by researchers and teachers, but many responses are ambiguous. More research needs to be done and reviewed to better understand the reading puzzle and the impacts of reading interventions on elementary children who are at risk of reading disabilities. More quality research will benefit today's and tomorrow's students. We must provide strategies for all children to help them become capable readers. Knowing the struggling readers with multiple reading challenges requires teachers to not only recognize struggling readers but also consider the best reading intervention practices. Reading achievement can influence success in every subject area during a child's school day.
One of the primary goals of K-12 education in the Philippines is to be internationally competitive. Students must be able to compete on a global scale in all academic areas. Pupils who have communicative skills are capable of interpreting, evaluating, and processing English. Reading has become increasingly important in today's world, where there is so much more to know and learn. Reading abilities are required for social success. Those who are excellent readers have progressive social skills. A student who is a voracious reader should interact with others. He's not afraid to stand his ground. Reading broadens one's horizons. It serves as a sort of replacement for travel.
Reading is an important skill in life, and reading intervention can help many students find success and attain academic success. Early identification and understanding of each student's needs are critical for providing the most successful, appropriate intervention.
