Heart-friendly cooking oils
Cooking oil is one of the primary ingredients in any type of dish being prepared at home and in restaurants. Health experts have advised choosing better options when it comes to buying cooking online or at most times, in grocery stores in Singapore.
The question to ask then is, what makes a cooking oil healthy or not? Accordingly, different types of oil are gauged based on the type of fat and the nutrients found in them. Harmful fats include trans fat and saturated fats which can cause the rise of bad cholesterol in the body. Meanwhile, healthy fats are polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats which can help lower risks of heart ailments such as heart attack.
While these “healthier” cooking oils are fairly more expensive than regular cooking oils such as palm oil, the benefits of using these beneficial fats should always be put in mind. While it may take a while to list down all the healthy cooking oils which contain monounsaturated fats, here are three of them:

There, one of the grantees of the new batch was able to share her message of gratitude for being part of the City’s scholarship program.
“Sobrang laki po ng tulong ng scholarship program ng San Fernando. Sa akin pong kaso, ito po ang unang pagkakataon na makasali ako dito at bilang ako lang at ng kapatid ko po ang nagtutustos sa aming mga pangangailangan, minsan po ay hindi namin kinakaya ang mga gastusin,” Ainie Ayob, a secondyear Accountancy student from a state university, said.
“Malaki po ang pasasalamat ko sa programang ito dahil sa panahon pong ito na may pandemiya, mahirap makahanap ng mapagkakakitaan. Ang grant pong ito ay hindi lang makakatulong sa aking pag-aaral kung hindi sa pangangailangan din po namin ng aking kapatid," she added.
Meanwhile, the ESAP will begin to accept and process documents for the current school year’s second semester grant. The office has yet to plan for the opening of applications for the new set of scholarship grant beneficiaries. (City of San Fernando Information Office)
