People's Movement wants Duterte to run for VP in 2022
GUAGUA,Pampanga – A People's Movement who are supporters of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte are urging the highest official of the land to consider running for vice president in next year’s May 2022 election.
The Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte National Executive Coordinating Committee (MRRD-NECC), a pro-administration group signed a manifesto of support which will be forwarded to Malacanang asking President Duterte to consider running for the second highest post in the country come 2022.
MRRD -NECC Region 3 Chairwoman Emilie Garcia said that their group have also started a signature campaign in support of President Duterte .
“We believe that there should be continuity on the programs and projects of the President , like the Build, Build, Build; fight against corruption and war against illegal drugs. We can only see this happening if there is continuity of the present administration ,” Garcia said.
Arnel Torres, Vice Chairman of MRRD-NECC Region 3 said that in a show of support to President Duterte , a motorcade was attended by close to a hundred individuals carrying streamers and waving flags .
Torres said that the motorcade consisting of several vehicles and motorcycle riders, will be visiting all the towns and cities in Pampanga . “This is a simultaneous motorcade not only in our province and Region 3 but also Region 1 to 13.”
Secretary General Jerry Ponce ,said that he believes that the move will be supported by the majority of Filipinos , saying that the People's Movement has long been a supporter of President Duterte when he ran in 2016 and also supported Senator Bong Go and other administration candidates in 2019.
“All those who joined this motorcade and signature campaign are all volunteers, we came here to show our support to our President, this our own initiative because we believe in his advocacy ‘ Ituloy and Pagbabago’," Ponce said.
Rolly Guiam, Pampanga Second District Chairman of the OFW sector said that whoever President Duterte will choose to be his successor or who will be the presidential candidate of the administration party, may it be Senator Bong Go or Davao City Mayor Sarah Duterte -Carpio, the People's Movement will support them all the way back to Malacanang.
“Kung sino man po sa kanilang dalawa ang mapili ng atin president para pumalit sa kanya, ay 100 percent support po kami, dahil pareho po silang qualified ,” Guiam said.
The Peoples Movement is also supported by MRRD- NECC Mabalacat City Chair Christian Halili, Angeles City Councilor Joseph PG Ponce, Barangay Chairman Andy Tan, Sta. Rita Chairman Nestor Laxamana and Porac Councilor Rito Buan. (Chris Navarro)
