PNP prohibits ‘hatid-sundo’ arrangement, then retracts

-

POLICE prohibited on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, motorists claiming to be fetching an authorized person outside residence (Apor), but retracted this a day later and imposed conditions for a “hatid-sundo” arrangement during the two-week lockdown in Metro Manila.

Unauthorized persons outside residence who bring or fetch an Apor to work must present to the police manning the checkpoints the following: certificate of employment of his or her Apor passenger; business permit of the Apor’s employer; and certification from the worker Apor identifying his or her driver, vehicle information and contact number.

Otherwise, they will not be allowed to pass through the checkpoints, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Guillermo Eleazar said Thursday, August 5.

“Ang basis kasi natin dito nasa ECQ tayo na pinakamataas na quarantine restriction at nakasaad d’yan na Apor lang ang pwede lumabas at ang non-Apor hindi lalabas. At lalo na nago-operate naman ang ating public transportation,” Eleazar said in a television interview.

“Binalanse na po natin ito. Ina-allow na po natin ang mga worker Apor natin na sila ay ihahatid ng non-Apor driver,” he added.

The public transportation system will remain fully operational in Metro Manila during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from August 6 to 20.

But only Apor, including workers of establishments allowed to operate during the period, may step out of their homes.

Since Tuesday, August 3, the Light Rail Transit 2 (LRT-2), Manila Metro

Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3) and Philippine National Railways (PNR) have been providing free rides to partially or fully vaccinated Apor. This will run until August 20.

Terminal fees for buses and jeepneys at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange have also been waived starting Monday, August 2.

Metro Manila will go into lockdown to contain the rising cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) that are possibly driven by the highly contagious Delta variant. (Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo / SunStar Philippines)
