When you think of mental health, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Stress? Depression? What about psychological health? Is it all of the foregoing? All of these ideas, as well as others, are part of mental health, which is a critical component of overall health. One’s emotional, social, and psychological well-being all have an impact on one’s mental health. It has an impact on one’s daily thoughts, feelings, and actions, and it has the potential to have a significant impact on one’s relationships with one selves and others. Taking care of one’s mental health is critical if someone wants to live a reasonably balanced life. Students today are more vulnerable to mental health issues as a result of the challenges posed by distance or online learning. At home, self-paced learning is taking place. Despite the assistance of teachers, family, and friends, students could not always meet deadlines for submitting work or modules. Some of the reasons why students were unable to submit their work on time include: excessive use of social media or online games,”barkada”, watching of Netflix / kdramas or similar to these, and being a working student. In short, a simple time management is needed to submit requirements or modules. But at times, being bombarded with different modules with lessons from simple to complex given the short period of time or doing all of them when deadline is approaching makes one’s mental health at risk. A balanced study habit, according to research, can lead to improved mental health. So don't be concerned if you know how to balance your time in your modules with friends, family, social media, and online games. The author is Teacher II at Diosdado Macapagal High School – Sto.
