Steve Dailisan, former GMA news reporter now works in the aviation industry as head of the Communications and Public Affairs department of AirAsia Philippines. Steve landed his dream job as a pilot for Cebu Pacific in 2018 only to be let go when the pandemic hit. It was unfortunat e.

But Steve shared in a post on employment-oriented online service LinkedIn last Monday, August 9, 2021, he never regretted his decision to leave his career as a reporter and pursue his dream job.

He wrote: "Someone once asked me, 'Didn't you regret leaving a good career in GMA-7?' This question indulged me to reminisce my journey. In 2018, I decided to take on the big leap and become a pilot. Got my Commercial Pilot License and A320 Type Rating after 17 months. Immediately after, God blessed me to land a job and was released as First Officer for a major Philippine

carrier. Unfortunately, the pandemic hit and I was one of the many casualties. Did I sulk? Yes! Was I unhappy? Many times. Did I ever regret my decision to leave my previous career? NO. I believe it is one of the best decisions I've made in my life. It allowed me to explore, grow and be limitless."

More than anything, Steve said he considered the experience as a detour on his life.

"I am a firm believer that in life, there are no bad choices if you man up your decisions. We just need to move forward and make sure when we look back, we remember happy times. The path I am currently opn allowed me to marry my love for journalism and passion for aviation. I take it as a redirection from God."

Toward the end of his post, Steve said the experience made him grateful for all the blessings and small wins that come his way amid the pandemic.

"What I came to realize is that life challenges will lead you to appreciate small wins. In these times, blessings no matter how big or small should be greatly appreciated. Take time to be grateful. Appreciate life. It will make you a sure w i nner."
