Smoking is one of the hardest habits an individual has. Psychologically, people that smoke somehow believe that smoking calms their minds from stressful undertakings. It somehow adds spice to whatever these people do in their daily routine. Some smoke after meal, or while sobering themselves to liquor, and many other times and events. Some start smoking because of peer pressure, or being influenced by the surroundings, or just out of curiosity. Cigarettes are composed of chemicals that can actually kill an individual, especially if taken in high doses. Nicotine is the most common chemical known in the cigarettes that enter the human body once inhaled. Cyanide is another chemical that slowly poisons the human system. But, the human body has its own way to defend itself from harm caused by smoking, Nevertheless, whatever health conscious someone is, if the lungs are being badly affected, more diseases will inflict too much damage to the relative organs, and health in general. As stipulated by Bartleby Research, people do not have to be an active smoker to experience the harmful effects of smoke. Breathing in the smoke of active smokers is enough to cause them serious health issues. Non-smokers who breathe in secondhand smoke take in nicotine and other toxic chemicals causing them serious health issues. Exposure to environmental tobacco smoke damages their organs, mainly the lungs and brain.
