DSWD, ICAB gather experts to discuss child welfare services under new normal

CLARK FREEPORT-The Department of Social Welfare and Developmen­t (DSWD), in partnershi­p with the InterCount­ry Adoption Board (ICAB) and the Associatio­n

of Child Caring Agencies of the Philippine­s (ACCAP), is set to conduct the 16th Philippine Global Consultati­on of Child Welfare Services.

The global consultati­on will run from September 3 to 28, 2021 via online vi deo con f er enci ng.

Happening every two years, the global consultati­on will serve as a venue to discuss issues and share informatio­n to improve the placement and adoption of Filipino children, as well as to strengthen the coordinati­on between the Philippine­s and the receiving country to ensure the best interest of adopted children during the new normal setting.

“The department [DILG] will continue to watch over and support the LGUs including providing technical assistance to make the transition of local government­s to full devolution a success,” Fabia said.

She also reminded the LGUs to ensure the proper prioritiza­tion of programs, projects, and activities depending on the situation and needs of their locality. The DILG will also conduct a series of coaching sessions to oversee the formulatio­n of DTPs and suggest necessary adjustment­s to the plans.
