ICT as a Powerful Tool in Shaping the New Normal Set-up of Education
Liezel C. Gatus
Information and technology play a significant role in shaping the new normal setup of education and bringing about rapid changes in society. Understanding ICT and its basic ideas are regarded as part of the core of education since ICT serves as the foundation stone of the modern world. Technology can change how teaching takes place, where and how learning takes place and the roles of students and educators in the instructional process. ICT is changing the educational process by bringing strong components to learning scenarios, including virtual worlds. It is a powerful and impactful tool for expanding educational possibilities. As a result, it is impossible to imagine future learning scenarios that are not enhanced by information and communication technology.
Educational institutions may use ICT to improve students' abilities and knowledge for the twenty-first century. As a result, it has the potential to improve worldwide educational accessibility, educational equity, the broadcasting of high-quality teaching-learning programs, teacher professional development, and the achievement of more effective educational management. As a result, the main problems in education, such as accessibility, inclusiveness, and standards, may be easily handled via ICT. ICT raises educational standards by promoting learning via continuous conversation, delayed time discussion, guided teaching, self-learning, critical thinking, data searching, and analysis. The use of ICT may improve results, teaching, administration, and the development of essential skills among disadvantaged groups, while also affecting the educational instruction and research process.
The use of ICT in the classroom teaching and learning process is essential because it allows educators and learners to operate, store, control, and retrieve data, in addition to promoting self-regulated and active learning. ICT-based learning involves a broader inclination for collaborative learning among learners and educators, rather than simply in a single classroom. This kind of cooperation differs from the traditional learning environment. Distance learning in this new normal, for example, motivates educators and students to continue studying while students are at home.
