Impending shutdown

-

US PRESIDENT Joe Biden wants to reshape the US economy by introducing massive spending bills-hard infrastructure bill and economic recovery bill.

But at the rate the gap between the political divide, no one knows about the fateof the Biden's pet legislations.

Like in our country, the Republicans are the US President's worst critics and enemies as far as legislation are concerned. They oppose any and all bills introduced by the executive and are not open to any concession by the president.

As it is, the US of A government is on the verge of shutting down its operations and stop paying bills and other statutory obligations. It may even lose its satisfactory credit ratings and lofty stature in the eyes of nations around the world.

That is if the lawmakers approve to increase the country's debt ceiling in order to meet the country's financial commitments.

It is noteworthy that the Philippines does not approximate shutting down its operationsa national shame-since the lawmakers feel the country needs its budget to continue operations. In the past, however, it operated on a reenacted budget because of the posturings and stonewalling of some hard-headed lawmakers. Let us remember that Congress holds the power of the purse.

I wish to thank Robert S. Paquia of California for the thoughtful token he sent me through his brother Rosan S. Paquia, head of Mabalacat City's City Planning and Development Office and Officer-incharge of the City Agriculture Office.

Robert, a successful management man, is so considerate of his friends and acquaintances. He plans to spend his next vacation in the Philippines. Thanks, bro.

Like the other health frontliners and other servers, bank tellers and other employees risk their lives by working through the pandemic as banks they work for are open for business in order to service the public's financial requirements.

Talking about banks, Bank of PI San Fernando Highway Main Branch's Lorraine Gabarda, a teller there, is a good server of the Bank's clients as she attends solicitously to clients who line up (with assigned numbers) for their financial transactions. She works fast and accurately with a smile.

Ditto with Shula Manaloto of Metro Bank Dau Branch. She attends to callers' various needs such as the Annual Confirmation of Pension (ACOP) of SSS pensioners. She has a ready answer to any query about pensions.

Good assets to their banks, these two ladi es!
