Groups provide skills, social training to Aeta community

CLARK FREEPORT— A civic group and a foundation has recently teamed up to provide livelihood and social skills training to an Aeta community in Porac town.

The Rotary Club of Makati Business District and Happy Hearts Foundation visited Usbong Katutubo Rotary Cultural Village on September 26 for a day of social and community service.

The team focused on seven areas including livelihood skills, hygiene, literacy, disease prevention, childcare, peace, and environmen­t .

For livelihood, the team hosted a technical skills training on solarlamp making; for hygiene, the Aeta village provided access to clean drinking water by the Rotary Club of Makati GEMS; for literacy, educationa­l supplies including a computer, printer, and solar lamps were donated to the village’s school; for disease prevention, oral health kits, vitamins, and medical equipment were donated; for childcare, pregnant women and those who recently gave birth were given free cribs, baby accessorie­s, vitamins, and free check-ups by the Rotary Club of M abal acat .

Meanwhile, for peace, the Rotary Club of Makati Business District installed the “Rotary 4 Way Test Marker” in the UKRCV in Porac, which is meant to educate and inform residents on how to cultivate peace in their daily lives. And for the environmen­t, the team provided solar lamps and seedlings for the Aeta community.

“It is very fulfilling to be working with likeminded individual­s. Their passion to help and improve the lives of our Kabalens is very inspiring. We, from Happy Hearts Philippine­s, are even more inspired to work even more because we know that when we contribute, no matter how big or small it may have an impact on the lives of ordinary people,”

Happy Hearts Foundation Chief Executive Officer Elizabeth Carlos Timbol sai d.

Happy Hearts Foundation carried its program “Happy Nanay” which advocates empowering women, children, and indigenous people.

Timbol is also the past president of the Rotary Club of Makati Business District.
